Lewis Barber writes
"National Grid has started its first stage of public consultation today on its East Anglia Green Energy Enablement (GREEN) project. The project is to upgrade the high voltage electricity network in East Anglia due to the significant increase in energy that is likely to be generated as part of the country's energy transformation and climate goals, in particular in relation to offshore wind.
This project envisages that the infrastructure is predominantly going to be overhead cables and pylons except in the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty where the plan is for underground infrastructure. The intended area of interest for the infrastructure in and around Colchester is set out in the map below.
I am considering all the material that has been published today as part of the consultation before submitting my views and working with all relevant partners, including National Grid, to minimise the impact on local communities of these upgrades. Please do take the time to read through the consultation and information available and have your say. I would be interest in general views too."
