The most common definition of sustainable development is that from the Bruntland Report of 1987: 'Sustainable development is development that meets the needs of the present, without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs'

Dedham Vale Society.
This is a well established body that exists to promote the conservation and protection of the Dedham Vale area.
It leads on a number of local campaigns including seeking Dark Sky Reserve status for the Vale.
Essex and Suffolk Pylons Campaigns.
This group exists to campaign against the National Grid plans to construct large pylons through East Anglia.
NATIONAL GRID NORWICH TO TILBURY Statutory consultation 10th April to 18th June 2024.
The statutory consultation for the Norwich to Tilbury pylons and undergrounding project commenced on 10th April (2024) with a deadline for responses of 18th June 2024. Throughout the consultation NG are holding a series of face-to-face events. Information about the proposals will be on display, including the interactive map, as well as copies of maps and technical documents.

Paper copies of the consultation newsletter and feedback questionnaire are available to collect from the following local inspection point and can be collected from the start of and throughout the consultation period. Reference copies of the 2024 Project Background Document and the Non-Technical Summary (NTS) of the Preliminary Environmental Impact Report (PEIR) are also available at the inspection points.
